GRADUATION
REQUIREMENTS
- Twenty-one
units of credit.
- Four
credits in English.
- Three
credits in social studies to
include one-half credit in World History I (or Global connections), one-half credit
in World History II (or American history 1877-1928), one credit in American history
1929-present, one-half credit in American government, and
an additional one-half credit elective in social studies.
- Three
credits in mathematics. For the class of 2014 & beyond students will need 4 credits to include Algebra II or it's equivalent.
- Three
credits in science which
must include one credit of biological science and one credit
in physical science.
- One
credit in life skills or fine arts.
- One-half
credit in health.
- One-half
credit in physical education.
- One
credit or two half-credit electives in business,
fine arts, or foreign language. For the class of 2014 & beyond students must complete at least 1 unit of fine arts.
- Enrollment
in a minimum of five and one fourth credits per year.

CLASS
RANK AND QUALITY POINT AVERAGE

GPA is calculated on a 4-point scale with no weighting for
any course.

Valedictorians
and salutatorians are determined using this GPA. The student
with the highest GPA is the class valedictorian and the student
with the second highest GPA is the salutatorian.

A
QPA is calculated employing a 1.2 weight for any Advanced
Placement courses and a 1.1 weight for any advanced or honors
courses the student has taken.

Rank
in class is determined using each student's QPA.

Proficiency
Test Requirements
- The Ohio Graduation Test will be required for the classes of 2007
and beyond.
Requirements for an honors diploma (Class of 2011 and after)
- Complete all Northmont graduation requirements
Meet seven of the following eight criteria:
- Four credits in English
- Four credits in mathematics including algebra I, geometry, and algebra II
- Four credits in science including life, chemistry, and physics
- Four credits in social studies
- Three credits in one foreign language or two credits in each of two foreign languages
- One credit in the arts
- Overall GPA of 3.5 on the unweighted scale up to the last grading period of the senior year
- A composite score of 27 on the ACT or a total score of 1210 on the SAT
