COUNSELING CENTER STAFF

Sandy Sarver
Counseling Center Secretary
Mrs. Sarver is the friendly voice at the other end of the phone and handler of a huge volume of correspondence.  Her hobbies are sewing, travel, reading, and swimming.  Mrs. Sarver is a Northmont High School graduate and she attended The Ohio State University.  She has fourteen years experience in the Northmont district, one year as a library aide, one year as a special education aide, and this is her 12th year as a secretary in the district.

Shelly Froebe
Registrar
Mrs. Froebe keeps all of our student records in order, sends transcripts for graduates, and assists families in enrolling and withdrawing. She enjoys cooking, boating with family and friends, and relaxing at home with a good book. Mrs. Froebe has been employed in the Northmont School District for over sixteen years, which includes two years as an educational assistant, one year as a special education assistant, and twelve years as a secretary in the district. She also is a graduate of Northmont High School.

kesslerBeth Kessler
Counselor
Mrs. Kessler serves students with last names A-C.  Her responsibilities include assisting with Peer Facilitation, working with Adjusted Curriculum Program students, coordinating the Post Secondary Enrollment Options (PSEO) program and PSAT, securing career awareness speakers, facilitating groups, and organizing the senior exit survey.  This is Mrs. Kessler’s fourth year at Northmont.  Prior to coming to Northmont, she taught for six years at Miami Valley Career Technology Center.  Mrs. Kessler enjoys spending time with her family including her husband and two sons.  She also enjoys shopping and movies.  She holds her B.S. in Education from Bowling Green State University and her M.S. in Education from the University of Dayton.

  Amy Peters
Counselor
Mrs. Peters serves students with last names D-Ha. Group facilitation, career guidance, college planning, and the advanced placement program are some of her tasks. She is in her 12th year at Northmont after serving as an English teacher in North Carolina and at Tippecanoe High School and a counselor at Milton-Union High School. She enjoys aerobic dance, hiking, reading, and the activities of her two daughters and one son. Mrs. Peters earned a B.S. in secondary education at The Ohio State University and a M.S.Ed. at the University of Dayton.

Erica Marsden
Counselor
Mrs. Marsden assists students whose last names begin with Hb-L. Her areas of responsibilities include scholarship coordinator, website postings, senior recognition program, financial aid night, FAFSA, student awards and group facilitator. She is in her 6th year as a high school counselor.  Mrs. Marsden enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling and sports. She earned a B.S. degree in systems analysis from Miami University and a M.S.Ed. from the University of Dayton. emarsden@northmontschools.com

 

 

Rich Sommer
Counselor
Rich Sommer works with students with last names M-P. His responsibilities include working with the Ohio Graduation Test, coordinating the Northmont Link Crew program, and serving as a liaison to the Miami Valley Career Technology Center. This is his 7th year at Northmont. Prior to becoming a guidance counselor, he taught band and general music. He enjoys participating in community theater, singing, travel, playing several band instruments, and following U.D. Flyers Basketball. Mr. Sommer received both his Bachelor of Music and Masters in School Guidance Counseling from the University of Dayton.

mcintireKent McIntire
Counselor
Mr. McIntire serves students with last names Q-S.  His responsibilities include assisting with Student -to- Student Tutors, Foreign Student Exchange Program, the Job/Volunteer Bulletin Board, assisting with the OGT, coordinating activities with the Military, and Student Award selections. This is Mr. McIntire’s third year at Northmont High School.  Prior to coming to NHS, he was principal at Northwood Elementary.  Mr. McIntire enjoys spending time with family, friends and in many outdoor activities.  He received his B.S. and M.S in Education Degrees from Miami University. kmcintire@northmontschools.com

 

Glenn Patton
Counselor, Department Chairman
Mr. Patton serves students with last names T-Z. He is responsible forscheduling, the counseling center budget and is the liaison with the NCAA Clearinghouse. In addition he is our after school OASIS coordinator. You are likely to find Mr. Patton fishing or vacationing in northern Michigan when not at school. He earned the B.S. Ed. at Bowling Green State University and the M.S. Ed. at the University of Dayton. This is his 32nd year in education, all at Northmont.
