Instructions
There are two ways to get rid of the Macro virus.
You'll know that there is a macro attached to the file if you see this box when you open the file. Granted, not all macros are malicious, but all macro viruses are.

Option 1: Nuclear option
1. Delete the "Normal" template (click on the Finder icon in the dock, go to Documents, then Microsoft User Data, and delete the Normal file)
2. Go into your Preferences (in the Word menu), select Security from the list on the left-hand side, and ensure that the "Warn before opening a file that contains macros" checkbox is checked.
3. Open a Word file. If it prompts you to disable macros, click the Do Not Open button.
4. Drag the file to the trash, and empty your trash.
Option 2: Copy-paste option
1. Find your “Normal” template. It’s in the Microsoft Office X folder, in the templates sub-folder. Trash it. Word will auto-generate a new one.
2. Go into your Preferences (in the Word menu) and hit the Enable Macro Virus Protection checkbox.
3. Open a Word file. When you open it, click the Disable Macros button. Select all, copy, create a new document, paste and then save the new document.
4. Drag the file to the trash, and empty the trash.
Please note
If you ever get another MS Word document which brings up the bit about macros, odds are you’ve found or received another infected file. Virtually no one uses Word’s macro tools these days. Do not enable macros unless you are expecting a macro-dependent file! This is as basic a precaution as not downloading strange and unexpected email attachments.
